About the Author

Dr. Warren J. Keegan. Dr. Keegan is Distinguished Professor of Marketing and International Business and Director of the Institute for Global Business Strategy at the Lubin School of Business, Pace University, New York City and Westchester. He is Visiting University Professor, Cranfield School of Management (UK), CEIBS (China European International Business School) Shanghai, the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania Executive Programs, and ESSEC, Cergy - Pontoise (France). He is the founder of Warren Keegan Associates, Inc., a consulting consortium of experts in global strategic management and marketing and Keegan & Company LLP, a firm specializing in litigation support. The firm is affiliated with MarkPlus, the leading marketing consulting firm of Indonesia.

Dr. Keegan is the author of many books. His text, Global Marketing Management, Seventh Edition (2002, Prentice Hall, Inc.) is recognized as the leading Global Marketing text for M.B.A. courses around the world. He is a former faculty member of Columbia Business School, Baruch College, and The School of Government and Business Administration of The George Washington University.

He is a Lifetime Fellow of the Academy of International Business, Individual Eminent Person (IEP) Appointed by Asian Global Business Leaders Society (other awardees include: Noel Tichy, Rosabeth Moss Kanter, and Gary Wendt). His biography is listed in Marquis Who's Who in America. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC), Montreal; the Editorial Advisory Board, Cranfield School of Management; and Financial Times Management Monograph Series and is a current or former director of The S.M. Stoller Company, Inc., The Cooper Companies, Inc. (NYSE), InterAd, Inc., American Thermal Corporation, Inc., Halfway Houses of Westchester, Inc., Wainwright House, and The Rye Arts Center.

Dr. Mark C. Green. Dr. Green is Professor of Management and Marketing at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, where he teaches courses in management, marketing, advertising, international marketing, innovation, and Russian language. He earned his B.A. degree in Russian literature from Lawrence University, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Russian linguists from Cornell University and an M.B.A. degree in marketing management from Syracuse University.

In addition to co-authoring Global Marketing, Fourth Edition with Warren Keegan, Dr. Green has also contributed case studies and chapter materials to several other textbooks published by Prentice Hall. These include: Advertising Principles and Practices, Fourth Edition, by William Wells, John Burnett, and Sandra Moriarty (1997); Behavior in Organizations, Sixth Edition, by Jerald Greenberg and Robert Baron (1996); Business, Fourth Edition, by Ricky Griffin and Ronald Ebert (1995); and Principles of Marketing by Warren Keegan, Sandra Moriarty, and Thomas Duncan (1992). Dr. Green has also written essays on technology and global business that have appeared in the Des Moines Register and other newspapers.

Dr. Green has traveled to the former Soviet Union on numerous occasions. In 1995 and 1996, he participated in a grant project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and presented marketing seminars to audiences in Nizhny Novgorod. In addition, Dr. Green has served as a consultant to several Iowa organizations that have business and cultural ties with Russia and other former Soviet republics. Dr. Green has lectured in Russia and Ukraine on topics relating to emerging market economies. His 1992 monograph, Developing the Russian Market in the 1990s, received an award from the Iowa-based International Network on Trade.

In 1997, Dr. Green was the recipient of Simpson College's Distinguished Research and Writing Award. Dr. Green also received the 1995 Distinguished Teaching Award for senior faculty. In 1990, he was the recipient of Simpson's Excellence in Teaching Award for junior faculty. He also received the 1988 Outstanding Faculty of the Year awarded by the Alpha Sigma Lambda adult student honorary at Simpson College.

College required text

Used at Western Washington University in 2010. If you're fascinated by marketing, you'll probably like this book. If you think telemarketers are marketing professionals, you probably won't like this book. The case studies were interesting.

Purchasing Options for Global Marketing Textbook

Very up-to-date-textbook with real world scenarios. I wanted to purchase this book as an e-book. The great disappointment I have with this book is the publisher chose not to enable "text to speech". I also was about to purchase the Kindle Fire when I discovered the book did not have this feature. Why should I purchase the Kindle Fire or all new generations Kindle if the books I purchase do not have the "text to speech " feature enabled?

pleasantly surprised

I bought this for an International Marketing course which actually required the 6th edition. Instead of paying $90+ for the newer version, I paid about ten dollars. The page numbers are different from the new version but the content is almost exactly the same. Most of the case studies in this book are the same as in the new version, but there are two are three in the 6th edition that aren't in this edition. I haven't had any troubles using this edition in place of the newer one. The book arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Glad I saved a ton of money without sacrificing quality or content.

A beautiful book about finding healthy sugar alternatives and loving what you eat

A bright and summery cookbook, Cut the Sugar, You're Sweet Enough offers beautiful pictures and diverse recipes. Cut the Sugar does not set out to promote removing sugar completely from your life. Instead it helps readers find sugar alternatives, creating sweet food that is nutritious and replacing the bad sugary things with healthy and enjoyable sweets.

I have watched the quit-sugar craze arrive and seen how colleagues and friends have cut sugar completely from their diets. Many have stuck with it, others succumb to cravings, while others simply can't manage the restrictions a sugar-free diet imposes. I, on the hand, have continued to eat my regular, balanced, mainly healthy but defiantly not sugar-free diet. I haven't read the quit sugar books that sit on our library shelf nor have I watched any sugar-is-killing-us documentaries. I would rather enjoy my sweets in naive bliss. But when I heard about this book, a book about reducing sugar but still enjoying the sweet side of life, I was very intrigued. I was not disappointed. While Ella Leche's level of diet restriction is well out of my range of dedication, it does offer some practical tips for reducing bad sugar intake and replacing it with healthy and nutritious sugar intake.

Cut the Sugar begins with a message from Ella describing her journey with illness, food and health. An introduction to a variety of healthy basic ingredients, such as superfood, grains and seeds, healthy fats, protein sources, gluten-free flours, and sugar alternatives follows.

All the recipes are plant based and gluten free. There are also some that are also egg and dairy free. There is some sugar in these recipes, particularly the desserts and some snacks. But that's the point! You can eat some sugar, just from different sources and in smaller quantities. The sugar sources range from coconut palm sugar and stevia, to Medjool dates and rice malt syrup.

While some recipes are straight out of the I'm so healthy, you can only buy these ingredients in extremist health shops, others are simple and pure genius. A cookie made solely from mashed banana and oats!!

The recipes are organised by section. Firstly, there are breakfast recipes, such as the caramelised onion, leek and potato chickpea frittata that is egg free. A great range of salads follows, which have plenty of nuts, seeds and beans. Soups are next, and range from the refreshing to the surprising, such as the brussels sprout, pea and fresh dill soup or the hearty miso soup. The mains section provides hearty meals that are wheat, diary and meat free, like the zucchini noodles with spinach pesto or the chickpea flatbread pizza. This leads onto the dessert section, where there is everything from the simple mixed berry crumble pots, to raw brownies with chocolate ganache. I was intrigued by the cinnamon and rooibos cake, which uses spelt flour, brewed rooibos tea and applesauce. The snack section follows including protein bars, turnip the beet chips, multiseed bread, and flax crackers. And finally there is a drink section with a variety of smoothies.

A lot of the recipes in this book seem less like a reduced-sugar cookbook and more like one that is for people with allergies or intolerances. Take the diary-free cashew cheese ball for example. But anyone will enjoy these fresh meals, even if they want to add a side of chicken, beef or wheat pasta.

Most of the fat content in the baking recipes is sourced from coconut oil. If you're not a convert of this trend you can always switch the quantities to another oil. Also, milk alternatives such as almond or hemp milk could be switched to whatever type of milk you drink. I think I'll also be skipping the hemp, milk or seeds, as it is illegal to eat in Australia. I would have liked a little more detail in the alternative ingredients section, such as disadvantages to some of these ingredients, their origins or why it is best to use them rather than other alternatives. For example, coconut oil is cited as the fat of choice, but despite the claimed benefits there is no mention of it being high in saturated fats. There is also an extensive index, which is grouped by ingredients as well as finished product.

Overall, this is a very beautiful book. It would make a great gift and the perfect accompaniment to any kitchen library.

A reasonable approach to sugars.

My sweet tooth is notorious in my social circles. I lose all shame when it comes to snagging the last donut or cookie. I never turn down a second slice of pie or scoop of ice cream. Most people keep office supplies in their desk drawer. I keep gum and candy. And like most addicts I go through cycles of wanting my drug of choice out of my life only to get low and fall back into its loving arms.

Most books I've encountered pretty much demand cutting out all sugars and I'm pretty sure if I did that my system would be shocked so bad I'd be sick. But the approach of Cut the Sugar, You're Sweet Enough surprised me. The emphasis on quality food that provides much needed nourishment without added sugars instead of eliminating all sugars seems far more reasonable and healthy, not to mention easier to sustain in the long term.

I was really impressed with the recipes because I really thought most of them would be boring and full of hard to find ingredients. Instead, they include lots of delicious naturally sweet whole foods like dates and sweet potatoes and ones that can provide the creamy texture many sweets have like avocado.

While I don't anticipate cutting my favorite sweets out of my diet any time soon, for the first time I feel like someone out there has a way to still enjoy the sweet life without allowing for the fact that food can and sometimes should be a pleasure.

I love the approach of "Cut the Sugar" because if you're ...

I love the approach of "Cut the Sugar" because if you're anything like me, cutting sugar out completely is IM-POSS-I-BLE. I just can't go without sweets! My biggest problem is breakfast. I always want something sweet for breakfast. Thankfully, Ms. Leche makes it easier with these recipes - including some awesome recipes for BREAKFAST! I definitely believe that there is a link between the food we eat, including sweets, and our health. I think that cutting back on the amount of sugar that we eat isn't just a wise choice, but it's something that, honestly, we all must do in order to maintain proper health. It's not easy, but it's not quite as difficult thanks to recipes like this one for Chocolate Dipped Biscotti!

This volume brings together twenty-one essays by Michael Knibb on the Book of Enoch and on other Early Jewish texts and traditions, which were originally published in a wide range of journals, Festschriften, conference proceedings and thematic collections. A number of the essays are concerned with the issues raised by the complex textual history and literary genesis of 1 Enoch, but the majority are concerned with the interpretation of specific texts or with themes such as messianism. The essays illustrate some of the dominant concerns of Michael Knibb's work, particularly the importance of the idea of exile; the way in which older texts regarded as authoritative were reinterpreted in later writings; and the connections between the apocalyptic writings and the sapiential literature.

About the Author
Michael Knibb is Samuel Davidson Professor Emeritus of Old Testament Studies, King's College London, and a Fellow of the British Academy. He has published widely in the fields of Early Jewish Studies and of Ethiopic Studies.

My mother's daughter

Full disclosure - Martha is a friend of mine! This is a wonderful story of persistence in the face of adversity. By sheer willpower Martha rose from a rural village in the African bush to running her own business in California. Despite personal tragedies she never faltered in her ambitions. It's an inspiring story that's well written and a lesson to all those who think life is unfair to them.
I give it 5 stars and highly recommend it.

My Mother's Daughter- So Inspirational!

We have far to few healthy and strong role models in this world; especially ones who face adversity and keep focused and true to their self assigned goals and aspirations... Matha Lovejoy tells a wonderful story about being born into a different culture and lifestyle than the one she dreams of. It helped so much that she had a loving Mom who wanted better for her children than she had and tells very strong and inspiring stories which Martha takes to heart.. Martha's strong spirit carries her through many hard times that try and derail her direction. I loved this story. I sent copies to a friend and my niece who I thought would benefit from reading it. Their responses were just what I expected...!! It was very empowering! Great thanks to this author for sharing her story so we could learn from it and take in the benfits of a healthy role model like Martha..

Many of her short stories have been published in small magazines, anthologies and school textbooks. The mother of two daughters and a son, she lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Random Passage, the 4-part television mini-series, based on her book, aired on CBC Television, beginning January 27, 2002.

Engrossing Historical Fiction of Newfoundland.

What a wonderful, interesting story. The characters came to life. I couldn't put this book down & was living the story of their difficult struggle to surive the harsh winters. As a native Newfoundlander, I feel this story realistically portrays living in the fishing outports in earlier days. The accurate depiction of early Newfoundland settlement will be good to see in the mini series that has been filmed. I hope that we will get to see it in the U.S.A. I can't wait to read the sequel, "Waiting For Time."

Wow! I know the early history of Newfoundland and this books reads more like fact than fiction. What a wonderful book? I felt like I was actually present as I read this book. The characters and the place are SO REAL. I am so happy I bought the sequel "Waiting for Time". Random Passage is so great though I am afraid I will be disappointed ..as the sequel can't possible get any better than this. Ms. Morgan is to be commended. I understand this is her first novel.

What a page-turner! I was so engrossed that I couldn't wait to read what turn of events would come next. It is difficult to imagine being such pioneers but Morgan's writing made you feel their joys and pain deeply. I am looking forward to reading Waiting for Time.

Marvin Jensen is 73 years old. He can honestly say he was born in a log cabin (actually a log house), within 40 feet of where he now sleeps. He and Abe Lincoln. He is infected with the farming disease. While, he has worked off of the farm during periods of crisis, which seem to happen fairly often, he has always returned to full time farming as soon as the finances permitted. He loves beef cattle, tolerates pigs, and detests turkeys. Married Marlys--1966. Three Kids. Four Grandkids. Own 1900 acres respectable cropland. Raise corn & soybeans.

For the informed reader

I can see where some people may be upset with the title change, although in the listing it does say it's published by Llewellyn (the most well known metaphysical publisher) and their Practical Magick publishing circuit, no less. That being said, I liked this book as a beginner book, but there were some things I really did not like.

The wide variety of recipes in this book are wonderful. I enjoy a lot of the folklore mixed in and ancient recipes, however, ancient recipes can only go so far considering most of their ingredients may have never existed or are impossible to obtain now. Even throughout the book, Cunningham's commentary notes that some of the ingredients he doesn't know what they are, and then proceeds to give an alternative suggestion.

It's great that there's a substitution chart in a later chapter, but I shouldn't have to be replacing ingredients in a recipe that even the author himself doesn't know what it is or how to obtain it. That is incredibly frustrating and a waste of time.

The recipes I have been able to try have been good, and the quick references I can make without having to make substitutions are great.

Another concern is that some of these "ancient" recipes are actually toxic and to the uninformed reader, that can be highly dangerous.

Important Reference Book

This book is great. If you like Cunningham, this is one of his bests. In Part I: Basics, he explains everything well enough for beginners to understand, yet briefly enough lest the more advanced get frustrated. He even includes a chapter on creating your own recipes! Throughout Part II: Processing and Recipes, he gives useful lists of things like the most common ingredients used so you can keep them in stock, substitutions, simple uses for single ingredients, etc. Part II includes the following chapters: Incense, Oils, Ointments, Inks, Tinctures, Herb Baths, Bath Salts, Brews, Ritual Soaps, Sachets or Herbal Charm, Powders, and A Miscellany of Recipes. His recipes are not exact measurements; they are more like ratio suggestions, which is great and he explains why. Part III is entirely devoted to different kinds of substitutions. This books includes a glossary and appendices that are very useful for beginners. I would have loved to see more recipes for more magickal needs to be honest. There are a good bit of recipes, but they are mostly for the basic magickal needs. I would have liked to see the index more expanded. Obviously it's a bit outdated, but most of the best books are right? This is one of those books that will be used frequently for reference; I know it is an important addition to my library. I'm rating it 4 stars because I prefer bigger, more detailed reference books, but I hope that doesn't diminish its importance. I am including an out-of-focus picture of two of the pages so you can see the layout of the recipe pages.
